Fabric Detail
No.9195 Diaphanous
Produced with the inspiration of the shoji screens found in traditional Japanese houses.
The collection expresses a unique transparency by applying the gauze technique, a traditional weaving technique of Nishijin brocade. This semi-transparent fabric uses traditional techniques but controls transparency through HOSOO's unique modern interpretation. Delicate washi yarns are woven into the fabric to create a unique texture reminiscent of shoji paper, achieving both transparency and a rich texture.
Created in collaboration with Dutch textile designer Mae Engelgeer, the collection is available in ten richly coloured variations that make the most of her unique sense of colour.
